On Monday October 13 we took the bus from Dubrovnik to Korcula, which took around three hours, including the short ferry trip from the mainland to the island of Korcula. Korcula town is very picturesque, perched on a small peninsula that juts into the Adriatic Sea. Here are some snaps of Korcula town: Our accommodation for the next 5 nights was a three bedroom apartment owned by Slobodan Vrantjes and his wife, who lived upstairs. They were most hospitable and provided us with dinner on our first night as well as wine from Slobodan's own winery.

This was our living room / kitchen:The apartment was in Medvinjak, about a 15 minute walk from Korcula town. The view from the deck was impressive.A real plus was that there was a nice swimming beach just down the road from the apartment, which we made use of:On our first full day in Korcula we had an al fresco lunch and organised a rental car which proved to be very handy for nipping in and out of town.Even though Korcula was winding down for the winter, we still found plenty of nice cafes for coffees:
On Thursday 16 October we decided to have a look around the rest of the island and so drove to the other main settlement on Korcula, Vela Luka, which lies on the western end of the island. On the way we passed through the village of Smokvica, situated on the hill overlooking a valley where the largest vineyards on the island lie.

We eventually arrived at our destination, Vela Luka, the main port of Korcula. We had lunch at a restaurant on the waterfront overlooking the harbour.
