A fine Sunday morning in November and I decided to take a walk just south of Galway in County Clare, on the southern shores of Galway Bay. The walk took in a small hill on the edge of the Burren, the area known for its karst limestone hills.

Diamond Hill Walk, 26 October 2009
Well, its been a long time since I posted any photos on my blog so I thought I'd put a few more entries on things that we have been up to in the last three months since our Italy holiday. Autumn turned to winter, the leaves dropped from the trees and there were extensive floods in November. But Marian and I did manage to get in a nice day walk at Diamond Hill, in the Connemara National Park which is at the very western end of County Galway. The views from the top were well worth the steep climb, including an aerial view onto Kylemore Lough and Abbey.

Walk in Maum, 28 June 2009
On Sunday 28 June I went on a walk with the Galway Walking Club, in Connemara, which is a region in the western part of County Galway. We started at the small village of Maum, and walked along the Maum Valley, and over the Mam Ean (or Maumeen) Pass. This is the site of a small chapel and shrine, known as St Patrick's Bed. Mass is held there every Easter.
